Island of Back2Kids — Privacy Policy
Türkçe sürüm (Turkish version): Gizlilik Politikası (Türkçe)
01
Summary
Island of Back2Kids does not collect, store or share any personal data. The app never connects to any server or internet service. Its only network feature is the optional "Play together": two devices on the same Wi-Fi network connect directly to each other (described below). There are no ads, no in-app purchases, no accounts, no chat and no analytics.
This is not a marketing claim but a boundary in the code: the networking code exists only for "Play together" and talks only to another device on the local network. Data does not reach the internet.
02
Data we collect
None. The app never requests, reads or transmits:
- Name, date of birth, e-mail address, phone number
- Location
- Contacts, photos, calendar
- Camera and microphone
- Device identifiers, advertising identifiers
- Crash reports or usage statistics
03
What stays on the device
Game progress is stored on the child's device, inside the app's own private folder (
progress.json). It contains nothing but game numbers:Stored Example Unlocked levels and stars "levels": {"1": 3, "2": 1}Garden state, star count, built structures "world": { … }Whether the tutorial is finished "tutorial": trueChosen age band (3-5 / 6-7 / 8+) "age_profile": 1Music, effects and speech volume, language, camera distance "prefs": {"locale": "tr", "music": 0.7}Colour and shape choices for the child's own Murti "prefs": {"look": { … }}Story scenes already watched (so the book button can replay them) "hikaye": {"izlenen": ["acilis", "bolum_1"]}An age band is not a date of birth. The app stores one of three buckets ("3-5", "6-7", "8+") and uses it to scale question difficulty and button size. Nothing identifies which child it belongs to.
The device also keeps a technical error log (
hata-gunlugu.txt) so that a parent or the developer can see why something went wrong (for example, when the device's speech engine has no voice for the chosen language). Each line holds only a date to the minute, a fixed error code and a few numbers (example:2026-10-07 21:14 KONUSMA_YOK 0); no text, names or location. At most 120 lines are kept; older lines are dropped. The log never leaves the device and is never sent anywhere. These files never leave the device. They are removed by the operating system when the app is uninstalled, and can also be erased from inside the game through Settings → Reset, behind a two-step parent lock.

Play together (local Wi-Fi)
"Play together" is optional and opens, every session, behind a parent gate (an adult question). Unless it is opened, the app does nothing on the network.
- Exactly two devices on the same Wi-Fi network connect directly to each other (ENet, UDP 47231). There is no intermediary server, account or internet service.
- Pairing uses a code made of three pictures. The code is the last number of the host device's local network address.
- There is no chat, no name or text entry, and no audio or video transfer.
- Only game state travels between the devices: the state of the garden (plants, structures, star and material counts, positions of animals and villagers, whether an animal is hungry, progress of the rainbow, the quest and the level goal), the positions of the two characters, the character's look (colour and shape choices), and planting, watering, collecting, feeding and celebration (quest, rainbow, level end) events. None of this is personal data.
- The device's local network address (IP) is used to connect. It is not stored and not forwarded anywhere else.
- The data is not encrypted; it travels only on the local network and does not reach the internet.
- The guest device keeps the host's garden in memory only; it does not save it and discards it when the session ends. The guest's own save is not changed (only the play-time counter and settings are updated, on the guest's own device). The host does not store the guest's look.
05
About spoken guidance
The game speaks its instructions aloud for children who cannot read yet. It does so through the device's own speech engine; no recorded audio ships inside the app and the app sends no text to any server.
To be precise about the one grey area: on some Android devices the operating system's speech engine may itself work through the cloud. That is a feature of the device, not of this app, and it is governed by that engine's own privacy policy (for example Google's, if the Google speech engine is installed). Speech can be switched off completely by setting Settings → Speech to zero.
06
Children
The app is designed for children aged 3-8. Because no data is collected from children, the parental consent mechanisms of COPPA, GDPR-K and the Turkish KVKK do not apply. There is no path from the app to the internet or outside it for a child: no web links, no chat, no user-generated content, no social sharing buttons and no ads. The only connection is "Play together", which opens behind the parent gate and links to one device on the same Wi-Fi; no text, audio or video can be sent there either.
Parent-facing areas (settings, reset) open with a press-and-hold gesture a child is unlikely to trigger by accident.
07
Third parties
The app contains no ad network, analytics package, social media component or crash reporting service. It was built with the Godot engine; the engine runtime is bundled inside the app and does not reach the network on its own. The networking code exists only for "Play together".
08
Permissions
The Android build requests the internet permission, because Android requires it for local-network sockets too. The app uses it only for "Play together"; no other permission is requested. The iOS build asks for local network permission when "Play together" is used. The iOS build does not access the camera, microphone, photos or location.
09
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the effective date above is updated and the new version is published at the link listed on the app's store page.
