Serialization for pharmaceutical manufacturers
A unique, verifiable code on every pack, every printed code read on the line and the case–pallet hierarchy tracked without gaps — without compromising line speed.
01
What makes it hard on the line
Line speed and lost codes
On lines producing hundreds of packs per minute, a single code that reaches the printer late or passes unread leaves a gap in the batch record.
Aggregation
The pack–case–pallet hierarchy is the part most exposed to breaking during rework and sampling.
Audit and traceability
Who printed or rejected which code, and when? In a GMP audit these questions must be answerable from the record.

Our approach
- ACentral serial number generationCollision-free, unpredictable serial numbers signed with in-house keys; the same number is never issued twice.
- BDirect printer and camera communicationZebra, Videojet, Domino and Markem-Imaje printers; closed-loop verification with Cognex and Keyence cameras. A queue-based, buffered architecture designed for lines producing more than 400 units per minute.
- CAggregation and audit trailThe case–pallet hierarchy is tracked end to end; every operation is written to the audit trail together with the reason for change.

Compliance frame
- GS1 DataMatrix
- EU FMD / national systems (e.g. Türkiye's ITS)
- FDA 21 CFR Part 11
- GMP audit trail
FAQ
- Does it work with the printers and cameras on our line?
- It communicates directly with industrial printers over ZPL/EPL and TCP/IP and with Cognex and Keyence cameras; RS232-connected devices are supported too. The models on your line are confirmed during discovery.
- Will our line speed drop?
- Codes are buffered to the printer in advance; the architecture is designed so that lines producing more than 400 units per minute do not stop or lose codes.
- Can I check a printed code right away?
- Yes. Paste the content of a code from the line into our free GS1 barcode decoder: fields are split, the check digit and date are validated and the four serialization fields are checked.
